EDUCATION
If there is anything we do well, then it is coming up with innovative solutions to problems. We took the old Consortium of Local Authorities Special Programme (CLASP) and their idea of prefabricated schools and developed it into a sustainable modular school standard BBi600 which set a new benchmark for modular school design, able to stand the test of time. Atom Consultants played an integral part in Balfour Beatty winning the bid for the Hertfordshire Building Schools for the Future programme (BSF) and has set a new industry standard for future schools. By adopting a standardised method to school buildings, a 30% saving in governmental expenditure can be achieved, rapid construction method can be applied and project delivered on time and on budget.

Winton Primary School Sports Hall- London
The London Borough of Islington had a requirement for a new sports hall to be used out-of-hours by the local community and it was to be built on the roof of and existing school- Winton Primary School.
To minimise disruption to this ‘live’ site, a modular approach was adopted. All components of the build were pre-fabricated, starting from the structural steel wall and roof panels and ending with the beautiful western red cedar clad external facade.
