Here in Leeds we have the right mixture of ingenuity and long-standing excellence in BIM
Founded by Mr. James Lupton (CEng MICE MIStructE) in 1993 and having operated under James Lupton Consultants till 2015, now part of Atom Consultants, our Leeds office is full of experts in BIM Consulting, as well as eminent Structural and Civil Engineers able to cope with open-ended problems, complexity and confusion of the most challenging construction projects. Atom’s Leeds office is at the forefront of the digital revolution in construction and has used Building Information Modelling since 1993. We have also invested into drone technology and obtained commercial pilot licenses to conduct aerial surveys using UAVs (See Atom Aerial). We have won numerous accolades for Innovation- such as the 2001 Smart Award for helping to fund an in-house R&D programme into the concept of Digital Construction and our employees have been presented with a Young Engineer of the Year 2000 runner up award for his contribution to the success of the Milton Keynes Xscape development.
James Lupton, the MD and Principal Consultant of Atom Consultants Leeds, gained his Chartered Civil and Structural Engineering Qualifications from the University of Paisley (now University of the West of Scotland) in 1982. (now Trimble) where his main tasks included production of specifications for specialist analysis and design software for use in the construction industry. He then held a Company Director’s position at Corcoran Gibbons for 4 years, before setting up James Lupton Consultants- now Atom Consultants in 1993.
James is a Member of both the Institution of Civil and Structural Engineers, as well as the Steel Construction Institute and TRADA.
He has collaborated with Autodesk in promoting the use of Building Information Modelling throughout the construction industry since 2004, delivering presentations, training and participating in software development from Bucharest to Bahrain. His Section Property Tables and the Ultimate Load Tables have been published in the Handbook of Structural Steelwork issued by The British Constructional Steelwork Association in 1990.
