Marine Harvest ASA is one of the largest seafood companies in the world, and the world’s largest producer of Atlantic salmon, which is supplied to more than 70 markets worldwide. The company employs 11 700 people, and is represented in 24 countries. In this particular case we’ve been working for Marine Harvest VAP (UK) Ltd.
We applied our Total Project Management expertise to the expansion and fit-out of their single biggest salmon processing factory in UK, based at Admirality Park in Rosyth.
Every aspect of the project from the initial idea to the finished result was handled in-house. This £25.4M revamp of the site included partial demolition of the existing structures to create a new 200,000 sq.ft. state -of- the- art Processing Facility. Over a 7 year period our services comprised of refurbishment of the existing offices, complete remapping of the overall factory, including contract administration, project management and coordination of all contractors to conclude with this plant being awarded the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 7 (first published in January 2015), setting the latest benchmarks for best practice in food manufacture.
Atom Consultants, being appointed as the Project Managers and Designers, designed and managed all of the various projects with a construction spend of circa £37M on this main Marine Harvest Scotland site.
Over the 7 years, between 2011 and 2018, we’ve worked on numerous projects:
• New Offices
• New Processing Factory in Rosyth
• Phase 2 Production Extension
• Factory Effluent Treatment Plan: Phase 1
• Phase 3 Production Efficiency Improvements
” The delivery of the remapping of our factory to very tight timescales to meet the needs of a large UK retailer was a milestone which under Philip Thomson’s direct project management was a real achievement. Atom Consultants continue to do project work for us and I would have no hesitation in recommending them. “
